The Shadow Isle from DAW or HarperCollinsUK is out right now, hardback from DAW, trade paper from HCUK. Two different covers, and I like both of them a lot.

The Shadow Isle is not the last book in the series. It was going to be, but it grew and split like a single-celled lifeform. The last book, and for business reasons in the UK it will have to be the last book, is going to be The Silver Mage, which will be out next year sometime - I have no idea when because I've not finished it yet. It is going to be long, most likely. The other night I made a list of the events that have to get into the book, and good grief! a lot of loose ends to be tied up!

Some of you may be wondering what happened to the British hardcovers. I know that many readers collected those. Unfortunately, someone in the marketing department of HarperCollins decided that they weren't "cost effective" and downgraded the remaining books in the series. My editor did her best to convince them otherwise, but in vain.

Along with Kate Elliott and other authors, I have started a new group blog. Deepgenre.com will discuss what it means to write genre, as opposed to literature, with all the attendant problems and perils. I'll post as regularly as I can.
